In 1958, Domenico Modugno wins Sanremo Festival thanks to his song "Nel blu dipinto di
blu".
This song is well-known everywhere, but not everyone knows that the author Franco Migliacci was inspired by
Chagall's
artwork "Le coq rouge dans la nuit" painted some years earlier in 1944.
The anecdote tell that Migliacci had a bad nightmare and when he woke up from sleep that painting was
the first thing he saw: it was hung on the wall next to the sofa where he fell asleep after a debauched
evening.
Here is the painting by Chagall with the lyrics of this well-known song to let you notice how they are
extremely
linked.
