Caparezza, alias Michele Salvemini, is an italian rapper that I decided to put in this list because of his famous
song “Mica Van Gogh” contained in the album Museica.
The lyrics and the videoclip succeed in reaching the challenging goal of representing Van Gogh’s controversial world.
Caparezza wrote this song after his trip to Amsterdam where he had the chance to become passionate about Van Gogh’s art, personality and inner world. The lyrics tries to depict a comparison between the famous painter’s lifestyle and the one of an average Italian man to conclude that sometimes, even if he is defined as “crazy”, we are even crazier. He had problems, but at least he had an original life that produced some of the most famous artworks in the world.
